Understanding coaching
What is coaching, and how is it different from therapy, consulting or mentoring?
For me, coaching is about going from where you are today to a future goal or state you care about. I don’t tell you what to do or give you ready-made answers – coaching is a confidential, question-based process where we unpack your situation and help you find your own solutions using your own resources. Therapy focuses more on healing and the past, consulting is about expert advice; coaching is a forward-looking partnership designed to support your thinking, decisions and actions.
Who is coaching for, and what kinds of issues can it help with?
I work with people who want to take back control of their life or time, make a difficult decision, navigate a move, or work on a specific situation they find challenging. That can look like preparing for a negotiation or presentation, organising your priorities after a period of chaos, or getting unstuck on a project that matters to you. Coaching can be about doing something concrete, reaching a certain state, taking a decision, or simply feeling more in control.
What is the difference between life coaching and professional or work-related coaching with you?
In practice, life and work topics are often deeply connected, so I don’t draw a hard line between them. Life coaching with me might focus more on personal transitions, habits, confidence or big decisions; professional coaching might centre on your role, workload, relationships at work or a specific challenge such as a negotiation or presentation. In both cases, the process is the same: you bring the topic, and we work together to create clarity and next steps that feel realistic for you.
Can I work with you if I am already in therapy?
Yes, coaching and therapy can work very well in parallel as long as you are stable enough and your therapist is aware. Therapy focuses more on healing and treatment; coaching focuses on your goals, decisions and actions going forward. If we ever feel that therapy needs to come first, or that coaching is not the right support just now, we will talk about it openly and decide together on the best next step for you.
What if coaching brings up strong emotions or old wounds?
Strong emotions are welcome in coaching – this is your space and it’s normal that important topics bring feelings with them. I will stay with you, slow things down if needed, and make sure we move at a pace that feels safe. If it becomes clear that deeper therapeutic work is needed, we will name it and I will encourage you to seek the right professional support, while being honest about whether I can continue to coach you in parallel.
How is coaching different from consulting in your practice?
As a consultant, I’m hired to analyse a situation and recommend solutions; as a coach, I’m there to help you think, decide and act for yourself. In coaching, I don’t position myself as the expert on your life or your work – you are. I use questions, reflection and structure so that you can build solutions that actually fit you and are sustainable once our work together ends.
Is coaching right for me?
What results can I realistically expect from coaching with you?
Typical results include more clarity about what you want, a clearer sense of priorities, and concrete next steps that feel doable. Many clients also notice they feel more grounded and in control, even when external circumstances are still complex. I can’t promise a specific outcome, but I do commit to bringing structure, attention and honesty so we can give your goals the best possible chance.
How long does it usually take to see results from coaching?
Some people feel a shift already after the first or second session, especially if we work on a very specific topic. For deeper patterns or bigger transitions, it usually takes a few months, which is why most people choose a package rather than a single session. We will regularly check in together on what is changing for you and adjust our work if needed.
How do we measure progress together and know that coaching is working?
This can vary depending on you, and the topic you want to work on. One way could be at the start we define what “better” would look like for you: for example, clearer priorities, feeling more in control of your time, or finally taking a decision. Along the way, I will invite you to notice what has shifted in your thinking, behaviour or feelings between sessions. We also make space to review what is working, what isn’t, and what we might want to do differently so the coaching stays useful for you.
How do I know I am the “right kind” of person for coaching?
You don’t need to be “broken enough” or have everything figured out to benefit from coaching. Coaching is for anyone who is willing to look honestly at their situation, try out new ways of thinking or acting, and take responsibility for their choices. If you’re not sure, we can use the free intro call to explore where you are and whether coaching is the right support for you right now.
Is coaching worth the money if there are no guaranteed results?
You get from coaching what you put into it – I bring my full attention, skills and structure, and you bring your honesty, commitment and willingness to experiment. I don’t deliver results to you; we create the conditions together for you to move forward. If at any point you feel something in my way of working is not supporting you, I genuinely welcome your feedback so we can adjust – coaching is not one-size-fits-all.
Can coaching help with confidence, imposter syndrome, stress, or overthinking?
Yes, these are very common topics in my practice, especially for people who are capable and carrying a lot. We might work on clarifying what matters most, challenging unhelpful beliefs, or designing small experiments that help you rebuild trust in yourself. My role is to offer a non-judgemental space and a clear structure so your mind has room to breathe and see options again.
How I work with you
What is it like to work with you as a coach?
People often describe me as kind and non-judgemental, but also straight and pragmatic. I’m not here to be a friend who agrees with everything – I’m here as a partner in your growth, someone who will both support and gently challenge you. I adapt my style to you, but you can expect clear structure, honest questions, and a space where all parts of your reality are welcome.
What does it mean that coaching with you is “client-led”?
Client-led means you bring the topic or objective for each session, and we start from what feels most relevant to you right now. Together we unpack what it really means, what you have already tried, and what you would like to be different. I bring questions, mirrors and structure, but you remain in charge of the direction and the decisions.
How much do you talk during a session?
My questions, reflections and summaries are there to support your thinking, not to fill the space for you. You will probably be speaking more than I do, and there may be quiet moments while you reflect – that’s part of the work. If at any point you would like more structure or more space, you can tell me and we will adjust together.
Which tools or exercises do you sometimes use?
Depending on your topic, we might use tools like the Wheel of Life, values clarification, visualisation, brainstorming or simple mirroring of your words. I have also studied NLP and may occasionally suggest a specific exercise if I think it could help you see things differently. Any tool is always an invitation, never an obligation – you stay in charge of what we use or don’t use.
How do you help overthinkers or people who feel overwhelmed?
As a big overthinker myself, I know how quickly we can get lost in our own complexity. In sessions, we slow things down, separate what is really yours from the noise, and identify a few key priorities instead of trying to fix everything at once. We then design small, concrete steps so you can move forward without needing a perfect plan.
Is coaching with you more analytical or more creative?
It really depends on what works best for you on a given topic. My analytical side helps us structure messy situations, spot patterns and ask precise questions. My more creative side likes metaphors, images and unusual angles that can open up new ways of seeing things. Together, they allow us to move between big-picture reflection and very practical next steps, depending on what you need in the moment.
What qualifications and professional standards do you follow?
I am an ICF ACC coach and a member of the International Coaching Federation, which means I have completed accredited training, mentoring, an exam and over 100 hours of coaching practice. I follow the ICF Code of Ethics, which covers confidentiality, respect for your autonomy and clear agreements. For you, this means I take your growth seriously and show up within a recognised professional framework.
Do you have a coach or supervisor yourself?
Yes, I regularly invest in my own development through supervision, mentoring or learning with other coaches. It matters to me that I continue to grow, reflect on my practice and stay aligned with the standards of the ICF. You deserve a coach who is also doing their own inner and professional work.
Is coaching confidential?
Within the limits of the law and professional ethics, what you share in sessions stays between us. I will not share the content of your sessions with anyone, including employers or family, unless you explicitly ask me to and we agree together what exactly can be shared. The only exceptions are situations where there is a serious risk of harm or where disclosure is required by law.
What happens if we realise we are not a good fit?
A good fit is essential for effective coaching, so it is absolutely okay to name it if something doesn’t feel right. We can talk about what isn’t working, adjust how we work, or, if needed, decide together to stop. The free intro call is already there to help both of us check if we want to work together before you commit.
Sessions, formats and packages
What happens in a typical coaching session?
This can vary depending on the session or topic. overall in a standard session: we start by clarifying what you would like to focus on and what “better” would look like by the end of the session. Then we explore your situation through questions, reflection and sometimes simple exercises or metaphors. We finish by capturing what you are taking away and any next steps you want to commit to.
How does a full coaching journey with you usually work?
We usually begin with a free intro call to get to know each other, check that coaching is appropriate, and choose the right format. Once we start, sessions are held online by default, at a rhythm that suits your topic and energy. We might start every week then space up to every 2 to 4 weeks or have only one longer session a month, it is up to you and your journey. Along the way, we regularly review what is working for you and adjust our focus or pace if needed.
When is a single session a good option?
A single session works well if you already know coaching and want to work on a clear, contained topic. It can give you focused space to clarify your thoughts, explore one issue and leave with a concrete next step. If your situation is more complex or emotional, I will usually recommend a package instead.
How do I choose between the Basic, Standard and In-depth packages?
As a simple guide: the Basic package (3 sessions) is suitable for a relatively focused topic or a first experience with coaching. The Standard package (6 sessions) is usually the best starting point if it’s your first time and you want continuity and depth. The In-depth package (9 sessions) is designed for larger or more emotional topics, or when you know you want support over a longer period.
When does a deep-dive session make sense?
Deep-dive sessions of 120–240 minutes are helpful when you need more time than a standard session allows. That might be to sort through many moving pieces after losing your footing, or to prepare for something specific such as a negotiation, difficult conversation or important presentation. Because they require more preparation and energy, I usually ask you to reach out in advance so we can decide together what format is best.
What is a Custom coaching package?
A Custom package is for situations that don’t quite fit the standard formats. We might adjust the number of sessions, their length or the overall rhythm to match your pace, priorities and constraints. If you’re unsure what you need, we can use the intro call to explore options and design something that feels right for you.
How flexible are your packages if my pace changes?
Each package comes with a validity period so that we keep some momentum, but there is flexibility within that. If life happens and we need to slow down or pause for a while, we will talk about it and adapt within what is possible. My goal is to balance continuity with respecting your reality and energy.
How do I choose between online, walk-and-talk and coffee sessions?
Online sessions are great for most topics and make it easier to work across countries and time zones. Walk-and-talk sessions can be helpful when you need movement and a bit of distance from a complex situation, while coffee sessions are more suited to lighter or less sensitive topics. We can talk together about what feels safest and most supportive for you, and what is practically possible where we both are.
Is online coaching as effective as in-person sessions?
Yes, online coaching can be just as deep and effective as in-person work, and it gives us both more flexibility. Most of my clients work with me online, and we focus on creating a quiet, private space where you can speak freely. If we ever feel a different format would serve you better and it is feasible, we can explore that together.
Practicalities, pricing and accessibility
Do you offer a free intro or discovery call?
Yes, I offer a free intro call before any package or session. It’s a relaxed conversation where you can ask questions, share what you’re working on and get a feel for how I work, while I learn about your needs and objectives. There is no obligation – together we simply decide on the best next step.
How do your pay-what-you-can spaces work?
I believe coaching can make a real difference, and I also know that some of the people who could benefit most cannot always afford standard prices. Because of this, I keep a limited number of pay-what-you-can spaces. If you truly need coaching and price is a barrier, you can reach out and we will look together for a contribution that is realistic for you. These spaces are limited and sometimes there is a waitlist, but you are always welcome to ask.
Do you offer emergency or weekend sessions?
Sometimes life happens and you need a session quickly. When I have capacity, I try to accommodate urgent or unsocial-hours requests. Because they require rearranging my schedule, these sessions include a surcharge: for example, last-minute sessions during standard weekday hours may carry around a 10% surcharge, and last-minute Sunday sessions around 25%. If you write to me about an urgent session, please say so clearly so I know to prioritise your message; we will confirm together the format, timing and any surcharge before you decide.
Which languages do you coach in?
I coach in French and English, and can also coach in Spanish, which is my third language. You are welcome to choose the language that feels most natural, and we can also switch if different parts of your story come more easily in different languages.
Where are you based and do you work across time zones?
I am currently physically based in Europe, in Bulgaria, and most of my work is done online. I do my best to accommodate different time zones, especially within Europe and nearby regions. If you are further away, we can usually still find a workable overlap.
How do you handle cancellations and rescheduling?
Life is unpredictable, so if you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know as soon as you can. Sessions cancelled or moved with at least 48 hours’ notice are not charged; with less than 48 hours’ notice, the session may be charged in full or counted as used, in line with our coaching agreement. In exceptional situations I may choose to waive the late cancellation once, but I cannot guarantee this each time.
What happens if my company or manager is paying for the coaching?
Even when a company sponsors the coaching, the content of our sessions belongs to you and remains confidential. We can organise a three-way conversation at the start to agree on broad goals and practicalities, but I will not share what you say in sessions without your explicit consent. If any feedback is required, we will decide together what can be shared and how.
Miscellaneous
What is your upcoming ACC exam support for coaches?
The ACC exam support offer is designed for coaches preparing for their ICF ACC credential who want more structure, focus and confidence. We will work on understanding the competencies, the code of Ethics and the cases where one should refer the coachee to an other professional. The training will have theoretical training and a training tool to help you practice for the exam.
What will your future group coaching spaces look like?
I will share more about this closer to the time, in the mean time don’t hesitate to reach out if you might be interested.
